THE NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY GRAVITY DATA BASE

Summary

The National Geodetic Survey (NGS) has assembled a gravity data 
base covering the continental U.S., and Canada and the bordering 
continental shelf areas.  At NGS this data base is used to 
compute the local geoid and the gravimetric deflections.  Since 
1978 gravity data from other sources have been added However, 
any proprietary data have been deleted.  Considerable effort has 
been expended in editing these data in order that high quality 
geodetic quantities may be computed.
